Two New Crochet Patterns Posted This Week: Spiral Shamrock Scarf and Spiral Bunny Ears Scarf

Ever since I released my first spiral scarf crochet pattern, I've been working on different shapes. This week I released two more new patterns: Spiral Shamrock Scarf and Spiral Bunny Ears Scarf.

Both scarves consist of 2 parts, the first is tunisian, and the second is the finishing crochet stitches that shape the shamrock and bunny ears. I have written instructions for both parts and a chart for the shaping.

I was inspired by the holidays coming this month and couldn't resist coming up with shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day and bunny ears for Easter. I plan on making a couple of the bunny ears scarves for my girls for their Easter basket. It's been hard keeping the surprise, I've been making them after they go to bed.

To celebrate my releases, I have both patterns on sale in my Ravelry store. The Shamrock scarf is 25% off until March 13, 2016 using code: shamrock2016. The bunny ears scarf is 50% off until March 19, 2016 no code needed, just add to cart.

Continuous Hearts Spiral Scarf Crochet Pattern With a Touch of Tunisian Crochet

My new favorite pattern has just went live this week. I'll probably say that for every pattern I post because I always get excited when an idea comes to light and into a finished pattern.

Introducing Continuous Hearts Spiral Scarf Pattern. You can find it in my Ravelry Store and in my Etsy Shop. You can also click the links at the top of my blog.
In my Ravelry Store

This pattern uses a combination of tunisian crochet and regular crochet stitches. The scarf is worked end to end which makes it super easy to adjust the length to any size. You can even try it on as you go to get it just right. I included written instructions with a chart for the heart shaping. There are pictures to show stitch placement as well.

I would consider this pattern to be intermediate, but still great for a beginner that wants to give tunisian a try. I don't use an afghan hook, just a regular crochet hook will do. Any weight yarn should work fine. I used cotton because I wanted the heart shape to really show, especially when worn.

It works up pretty quickly once you get the hang of the pattern repeat.

You can stack it in hearts, put a ribbon through it and give it as a gift.  Or just stack it in hearts when you're not wearing it.

I'm really excited for my next pattern in testing right now, the Spiral Shamrock Scarf. Same concept, different shape. And I have more shapes to work on, so more to come.

Bugs Cups and Bowls

I'm excited to announce a new pattern for sale. It all started with an idea and now that I'm finished, I just have more inspirations from it.

Announcing Bugs Cups and Bowls

Eight variations of cups and bowls with 3 types of bugs: butterfly, insect, and spider. Each cup or bowl has 3 bug designs. To lay it out...

1 Cup has 3 butterflies
1 Cup has 3 insects
1 Cups has 3 spiders
1 Cups has 1 butterfly, 1 insect, and 1 spider

...and the same with the bowls.

The cups are great for scrap yarn, buttons, other small items, even a water bottle cover. I like to use the bowls for balls of yarn, WIP's, the kids' gloves by the door with my keys and wallet, etc. Someone even mentioned adding handles to these and making them baskets.

8 patterns for $2.00. You can find it in my Ravelry store and my Etsy Shop using the links at the top of my blog.

Curly Snake

This is a super easy, one piece, crochet pattern for a snake. There are no ends to weave in, which makes it that much better, and it only takes a few minutes to make.

I gave them out at Trunk or Treat last year and plan on making a bunch of them to hang around as decorations for Halloween.

Worsted weight yarn
Hook size F/5-3.75MM

Round 1: leaving a 7" tail, make your starting slip knot and ch 3. Make 6 dc in 3rd chain from the hook. Pull tail to tighten hole and keep in front of work, join round to top chain of ch 3 with sl st, ch 2.

Now you'll work on the tongue using the 7" tail. Put hook, from back of work, through the center hole and pull through about 2" of the tail. Tie off to the back. Make a knot in the center of the loop you just made with the tail. Cut the end of the loop off to create a split tongue.

Round 2: dc2tog 3 times, sc in next st, skip next 3 st, sc through the back of the next st, ch 1.

Now you'll make the tail, 28 hdc foundation ch, 10 sc foundation ch, fasten off.

4 Patterns Available, More to Come

I've been scribbling my crochet patterns in a notebook for years now. Now I've decided to convert these scribbles into bonafide patterns for sale. Turns out I love pattern making just as much as the art of crochet.

This blog will be a place for me to post about newly published patterns, sale announcements, free patterns, and more. I have an Etsy shop, knackforcrafts.etsy.com, and a ravelry page ravelry.com/designers/knack-for-crafts, where my patterns can be purchased. So far I have 4 patterns available. Gradually I will be adding more.
