Curly Snake

This is a super easy, one piece, crochet pattern for a snake. There are no ends to weave in, which makes it that much better, and it only takes a few minutes to make.

I gave them out at Trunk or Treat last year and plan on making a bunch of them to hang around as decorations for Halloween.

Worsted weight yarn
Hook size F/5-3.75MM

Round 1: leaving a 7" tail, make your starting slip knot and ch 3. Make 6 dc in 3rd chain from the hook. Pull tail to tighten hole and keep in front of work, join round to top chain of ch 3 with sl st, ch 2.

Now you'll work on the tongue using the 7" tail. Put hook, from back of work, through the center hole and pull through about 2" of the tail. Tie off to the back. Make a knot in the center of the loop you just made with the tail. Cut the end of the loop off to create a split tongue.

Round 2: dc2tog 3 times, sc in next st, skip next 3 st, sc through the back of the next st, ch 1.

Now you'll make the tail, 28 hdc foundation ch, 10 sc foundation ch, fasten off.
